The Picton Business Improvement Area (BIA) is seeking a passionate and experienced Social Media Content Contractor to manage and produce engaging content for our Instagram and Facebook channels. This is a one-year contract for an independent contractor, offering an opportunity to help showcase the businesses, events, and community that make Picton unique.


Scope of Work:

  • -Develop and schedule engaging content for Instagram and Facebook, including posts, graphics, and captions.
  • -Collaborate with the BIA team to align content with campaigns, events, and seasonal initiatives.
  • -Monitor engagement and provide insights or recommendations for improving reach and interaction.
  • -Maintain consistent brand voice and aesthetics across all social media platforms.
  • -Attend occasional meetings in Picton, including at the Regent Theatre or other local venues.
  • -Attend select events within the Picton catchment area, as requested, to capture photos and short videos for social media content.

Contract Details:

  • Duration: 1 year
  • Rate: $27.75 per hour, approximately 6 hours per week
  • Work location: Primarily remote, with occasional travel to Picton for meetings and events
  • Independent contractor status: The contractor is responsible for their own taxes, CPP contributions, and EI coverage. This position does not include employment benefits or entitle the contractor to employee rights.
  • Contractors may be required to sign a confidentiality agreement regarding the BIA’s operations and social media accounts.

Reporting Relationship:
The Social Media Content Contractor will report to the Picton BIA Board designate and will receive direction on priorities, campaigns, and content planning through that individual.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing social media accounts for businesses or organizations.
  • Strong skills in content creation, copywriting, and basic graphic design.
  • Ability to capture high-quality photos and short videos suitable for social media.
  • Knowledge of Instagram and Facebook trends, best practices, and analytics.
  • Understanding of responsible use of AI tools in content creation, including respecting copyright, attribution, and platform guidelines.
  • Highly organized, reliable, and able to work independently.
  • Comfortable traveling to Picton occasionally for meetings and events.
